Our daughter was very excited when we bought her the Pink Retro Kitchen Collection from Pottery Barn Kids. Now she loves to make us imaginary meals in her kitchen. We noticed it also helped her to learn the names of kitchen supplies, vegetables and fruits much quicker. We love the realistic touches such as the cooking timers and removable salt-and-pepper shakers on the stove. Our daughter just loves to salt & pepper to season every meal. She also likes to wash dishes in her sink and dry them with a dish towel. ![]()
From an adult perspective, it offers a lot of storage space to put away toys.
The main problem with this kitchen set is the finish. After only a few weeks, I noticed the finish was starting to wear on the sink and stove. Moreover, the finish around the sink is cracking badly and I believe the paint finish will chip off soon. The advertisement for the product states that the sink can accommodate real water. After only one try, cracks began to form around the perimeter of the sink basin–that is, despite us drying the surface off after playtime was over. The refrigerator has held up well, but would be better if it had one of the those safety hinges to slow down the rate in which the door opens and close. It door opens really fast and more often than not hits the wall and any thing in its way.
This is not a cheap toy, so I expected the quality of the finish to be higher. It will keep your child busy, but I would recommend that you closely monitor the finish to avoid any child in your house from eating paint.
