We recently enrolled our youngest daughter in a class at MY GYM, a fitness center located at 250 East 60th Street, tel.: (212) 421-9496. Classes are for babies from 6 weeks up to kids 13 years of age. Did I mention that our daughter is only 3 month old? To date, she has tended to fall asleep for a third of the class, but it could be due to the time slot:) The “little bundles” class includes a routine group of exercises-set to nursery rhyme music, tummy time, swing time and activities designed to stimulate. The teacher will also occasionally shows parents and caregivers a few new exercises to try at home. Overall, I think classes of this nature may be better suited to slightly older babies. The younger they are, the more they cry and sleep in the class. The gym offers trial classes, which I recommend taking advantage of. Our older daughter, age 2, loved the class for her age. Unfortunately, we could not accommodate their schedule. The main drawback of this center is their enrollment policy, which requires several consecutive classes/payments. They also charge a registration fee. Makeups are possible within a reasonable time frame. You are also allowed one free playtime session per week in their gym, but this is more of a benefit for older children. Babies can’t exactly use a trampoline or slide, now can they?!#@!!
